Engagement Ring Guide
An engagement ring is worn every day for a lifetime. This guide walks you through each decision, from diamond shape to ring size.
1. Set a comfortable budget
There is no rule for how much to spend. Decide on a range you are comfortable with first. Lab-grown diamonds let you choose a larger or higher-quality diamond for the same budget as a mined stone.
2. Choose the diamond shape
Shape sets the personality of the ring. Round brilliants give the most sparkle. Ovals and pears look larger for their carat weight and lengthen the finger. Emerald cuts feel elegant and architectural. Read our diamond shape guide.
3. Choose the setting
Solitaire
A single diamond on a plain or delicate band. Timeless, and it puts all attention on the stone.
Halo
A frame of smaller diamonds around the centre stone adds sparkle and makes it look larger.
Three stone
Three diamonds side by side, often said to represent past, present and future.
Toi et Moi
French for "you and me". Two diamonds set together, a romantic modern choice.
Cluster
Several diamonds gathered together for the look of a larger stone, with vintage charm.
4. Choose the diamond quality
Cut has the biggest effect on sparkle, so choose an Excellent cut. For colour, E–F looks icy white. For clarity, VVS–VS means inclusions are not visible to the eye. Most Aarinya engagement rings use these grades, and every diamond is certified. See the lab-grown diamond guide.
5. Choose the metal
14K and 18K gold are the most popular choices. Match the colour to the jewellery she already wears. Read our metal guide.
